The IAMU Working Group on the comprehensive study on the quality of onboard training had a meeting in Tokyo, Japan on 24 and 25 August 2023. The head of the WG, Luis Evidente (John B Lacson Foundation University, Philippines) welcomed WG members, Dmytro Zhukov (National University «Odessa Maritime Academy», Ukraine), ZHAO Jian (Dalian Maritime University, China) and Alexander Tsetskhladze (Batumi State Maritime Academy, Georgia).

The discussion started by reviewing the WG activities and its significant achievements since 2015 followed by the identification of contemporary issues in implementing the onboard training. The group then had a lengthy discussion on how to improve the quality of onboard training and agreed to conduct comprehensive research related to onboard training.
