5th International Forum on Seafarers’ Education, Training and Crewing was traditionally held on the premises of Odessa Sea Commercial Port Exhibition Complex on 20th and 21st of April, 2017 under a slogan “Partnership for progress”. ETC-2017 was organised by National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” jointly with Exhibition centre “Odessa Home”.

The Forum was conducted under the support of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. The following representatives of different authorities are among the Forum participants: Volodymyr Kovtunets, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Alla Rybalko, Head of University Education Section of Higher Education Department of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, representatives of Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Dmytro Petrenko, Deputy Head of State Service of Ukraine for Transport Security, Pavlo Bulanovych, Head of Inspectorate for Training and Certification of Seafarers, representatives of maritime educational establishments and Ukrainian simulation and training companies.

The following topics were discussed during the Conference: Global Shipping and Manpower Market Situation; Seafarers’ Rights and Human Factor; MLC 2006 Implementation; Fatigue On Board; Management of Human Resources On-board and Ashore; Maritime Education, Training and Certification; Simulation Training and Assessment .
Programme of the Forum included exhibition, conference and round tables regarding cooperation between employers and seafarers, professional career, human factor, maritime education, simulation training etc.

More than 70 companies and organisations from 20 countries of the world took part in the Forum. The following representatives of international maritime organisations, associations and administrations will participate in the Forum activities: Senior Deputy Director of Maritime Safety Division of International Maritime Organization (IMO) – Hiroyuki Yamada, Executive Director of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) – Markku Mylly (Portugal), Chairman of the International Marine Employers’ Council (IMEC) – Rajesh Tandon (Great Britain), Head of Department of Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) – Aron Frank Sørensen (Denmark), Head Seafarers’ Trust of International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) – Kimberly Karlshoej (Great Britain) and others. The following representatives of the world’s most powerful shipping companies and crewing agencies were among the delegates of the Forum.
