On June 5-6, a yacht fest is being hosted by Odessa Sea Port attended by National University “Odessa Maritime Academy”. Welcoming remarks to the visitors and participants were made by S.I. Zaichko, Deputy Rector on Scientific-Pedagogical Work and International Activity, Dmitry Pavlov, Director of the yacht club “Admiral”, Vladimir Bakhchivanzhi, the representative of the Odessa Maritime Administration and Oksana Marashkina, organizer of the event.
This is the first yacht festival dedicated to sea recreation and yachting. Visitors have the opportunity to see unique ships, the best yachts from around the country. Festival guests can also visit the yachts of the festival participants, as well as many interesting and thematic locations. Interactive and bright photo areas decorate the event.
The main goal of the festival is to draw public attention to a unique training sailboat “Druzhba”, which has become a symbol of the festival – to restore the naval power of the Ukrainian fleet, as it is primarily a prestige for the whole country. Odessans and guests of the city have the opportunity to learn about the world legend and get acquainted with the history of ““Druzhba””. It should be emphasized that this ship is the only one of its kind in the Ukrainian Navy which has twice crossed the Atlantic Ocean.
Today, this sailboat needs help, and the mission of our generation is to help and give it new life. Each of us can donate charitable assistance to the restoration of the frigate.
“Druzhba” which is a training sailboat of National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” is not only a training ship, but also a symbol of the sea power!
