On December 11, 2019 Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Women, Peace and Security, Clare Hutchinson arrived at Naval Institute of National University «Odessa Maritimel Academy».

The cadets of the Institute and the Naval Lyceum named after Vice-Admiral Vladimir Bezkorovayn attended the lectures of Clare Hutchinson, which raised issues of gender stereotypes and inclusivity. Gender equality is central to the human rights system and to the values of the United Nations. The NATO’s Representative also focused on equality of opportunity and prospects, the promotion of women’s military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Clare Hutchinson emphasized the importance of mixed teams as women and men bring something to their jobs, specific skills and abilities.

Naval Institute of NU «OMA» has been providing not only boys but also girls with educational opportunities since 2019. At the moment, there is a girl among boys who specializes in weapons and military equipment.
