VI International Forum on Seafarer’s Education, Training and Crewing is being held on the territoty of Odessa Sea Port on May 10-11, 2018. The motto of the Forum is “Partnership for Progress”.

The programme of the forum includes an exhibition, a conference and round tables on maritime education, interaction of employers and seamen, professional careers, human factors, simulators and etc.

The forum is attended by delegations of more than 75 organizations and companies from 20 countries – the representatives of international maritime professional organisations, associations and administrations. Among the delegates of the forum are the representatives of the world’s largest shipping companies and recruitment agencies, well-known manufacturers of marine simulators in the marine community, the representatives of International Transport Federation (ITF), International Maritime Employers’Council (IMEC), International Federation of Shipmasters’ Associations (IFSMA), Sailors ‘Society, International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU), the Nautical Institute, the Institute of Maritime Engineering, Science and Technology (ImarEST).

Traditionally, the Forum is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. The forum is attended by Y.M. Rashkevich, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, D.S. Petrenko, Chairman of the State Service for Marine and River Transport of Ukraine, and the representatives of maritime educational institutions and training institutions of Ukraine.

Within the framework of the conference, the following main topics are discussed: global shipping today and tomorrow; human factor, fatigue and well-being of sailors; present and future challenges for seafarers’ employment agencies; issues of education, training and certification of seafarers; the use of simulators, computer technology for training and assessment of competencies, the development of a professional career.

The organizers of the forum are National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” and the exhibition center “Odessa House”.
