Dsc 1330The visit of the representatives of National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” in the name of M.V., Miyusov, the Rector of NU ”OMA”, M.V. Chesnokova, Head of International Department took place in Mumbai (India) from 1 till 4 November, 2017.

The meeting was held with Dr. Malini V. Shankar, Director General of the General Directorate of Navigation of the Ministry of Shipping in India that considered the issues of further cooperation in the maritime industry as well as held preliminary discussion of the recognition of Ukrainian diplomas and certificates. Besides, a series of meetings with the representatives of NU ”OMA” company-partners such as Anglo-Eastern Ship Management and Seaspan Ship Management were held where the possibilities of Indian citizens’ training at the University, providing them with practical training on the companies’ ships were discussed as well.

M.V., Miyusov, the Rector of NU ”OMA”, presented the report on “Development of Maritime Education, Practical Training and Employment of Seafarers in Ukraine”. The conference was attended by the representatives of the International Maritime Organization, the United States Coast Guard, the International Maritime Employers‘ Council,  the Baltic and International Maritime Council, Dalian Ocean University (China), simulator and software developers, and many others. This year the conference addressed the issue of maritime human resources, training and employment for seafarers as well as challenges facing the shipping industry.

The conference participants attended the excursions to the simulation training centre of Anglo-Eastern Ship Management India (Mumbai) and the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy where the training simulators and real equipment designed to train the seafarers were represented.
