Dscn97704444On September 26, 2018 during the XXI International Black Sea Transportation Forum 2018 (Trans Expo Odessa), Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific Cooperation was signed between NU “OMA” and Maritime Academy of Harlingen.

Within the framework of the Dnipro Development Initiative, a consortium “WaterwayTechHolland” was founded in Ukraine consisting of highly innovative Dutch companies and research institutes working in the field of water resources management, transport and ports development, as well as river shipping. The purpose of cooperation with Ukrainian partners is to help the Ukrainian government to resume the use of the Dnepr river as a transport resource. The representatives of this consortium are committed to contributing to the improvement of river infrastructure and navigational safety, knowledge and skills of navigators and technical personnel through the provision of services, technologies, expertise and training that meet the highest world standards in the sector.

In particular, Maritime Academy of Harlingen is a non-commercial educational institution in the field of maritime and inland water transport, where about 2400 regular students obtain professional secondary and undergraduate training.

As already stated, the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding will contribute to further cooperation in the fields of education, research and cultural understanding.
