On December 1, 2021 on the basis of the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” on the occasion of the opening of the Dispute Club of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Maritime Law and Management  of NU “OMA” was an online meeting of students with the judge of Malynovsky District Court Alexander Garsky.

The trend of the discussion “Personality Development vs. Crime” was the verdicts handed down by Judge O.V. Garsky in the fall of this year in relation to persons whose criminality was due to the retarded development of their worldview and lack of understanding of the importance of social values. For the implementation of paragraph 6 of Part 3 of Art. 76 of the Criminal Code, the verdicts set requirements for acquaintance with the systems of formation, valuation and preservation of values that guide humanity and man in his development.

During the discussion, all participants had the opportunity to get answers to questions about the human-oriented and creative attitude of the judge in criminal proceedings, preservation of internal humanity and ethics of the judge, and also had the opportunity to see the prospects of humanization of criminal proceedings in Ukraine.

At the invitation of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Maritime Law and Management, the meeting was attended by lawyers: students and teachers of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman.

The teaching staff and directorate of the Scientific Institute of Maritime Law and Management of the NU  “OMA” expresse their sincere gratitude to Alexander Garsky for paying attention to the audience and to the staff and press service of the Malynovsky District Court of Odessa for assistance in organizing this meeting.
