Estonian Maritime Academy (Tallinn, Estonia) gathered the participants of the International Project on Innovation Management on January 16-19, 2019. National University «Odessa Maritime Academy» was represented by M.V. Chesnokova, Head of International Department; E.V. Senko, Associate Professor of Management and Economics of Maritime Transport Department; Natalia Bogdanova, a 5th year cadet of Maritime Law and Management Faculty; Peter Dorosh, a 5th year cadet of Navigation Faculty. That was the second meeting in the framework of the project, the previous one had been held at the end of November in the city of Gdynia (Poland).

Students and teaching staff representing the following four maritime universities and academies participated in the work of the international project: World Maritime University (Sweden), National University «Odessa Maritime Academy» (Ukraine), Gdynia Maritime University (Poland) and Estonian Maritime Academy (Estonia).

Generally, the project focuses on innovations development in the maritime industry, innovative management approaches relevant both for marine specialities and for coastal areas of the maritime business. Any successful business is a combination of two components such as: innovation and marketing. Marine business is no exception to that rule. The combination of competent management and innovation enables rapid development and sustainable competitiveness of the company in any segment of the global freight market. Therefore, innovations are important as well.

Another important direction of the project is the measures development to maintain a high level of professionalism of personnel training, not only during the training period, but throughout the subsequent work in the maritime industry.

During the meeting, students developed a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) of innovation management at various stages of career formation and their role in training and further work.
