Kongsberg Simulator User Conference 2016 of Kongsberg Maritime company dedicated to the theme “The Role of Human Factors in Simulation and Training” took place in Athens (Greece) at “Hotel Royal Olympic” from 25 to 27 October, 2016.

About 200 delegates from more than 29 countries, including 75 different companies and organisations (universities, enterprises and organisations of the shipbuilding, oil and gas industry, crewing companies, classification societies and training centres) which use the Kongsberg equipment participated in the conference.

Kongsberg Maritime, a leading Norwegian company as well as the manufacturer of marine simulators was the organizer of the conference. S.A. Karianskiy, Associate Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Dean of Automation Faculty represented National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” at the conference.

The main objectives of the event were the following: to exchange knowledge and experiences, to identify common challenges regarding the development and use of simulators in the training, refresher courses of specialists for the Navy. Moreover, particular attention was also paid to the ability of university tutors and instructors of training centres to take into account the aspects of human factors in the process of education, training, summing up and knowledge assessment in order to increase nontechnical skills.

Presentation of marine K-Sim simulators of Kongsberg Maritime company was held within the frameworks of the conference. Besides, the visits to the maritime centres such as Ocean Rig Management Inc. and MARIA TSAKOS TCM Academy were undertaken during the event.
