The first qualifying stage of the educational contest “Maritime Affair 2018” took place in the maritime and transport universities of Ukraine on February 23, 2018.

The foundation of Boris Kolesnikov for the first time conducts a thematic project among students studying in the specialties related to shipbuilding, marine and river transport. The project’s purpose is to support talented youth, help them to realize their professional potential and educate highly qualified specialists.

The project’s opening was held at the end of November last year. During that time, 605 participants from 15 higher educational establishments of Ukraine were registered. Not only perspective sailors and shipbuilders decided to take part in the contest, but also students from technical universities specializing in land transport. Within the first stage, the contestants demonstrated knowledge in the exact sciences, namely, within 90 minutes they solved problems in mathematics and physics.

Having received high scores in the first round, contestants are supposed to move into the second round: in March they will be tested in a foreign language. In April, the finalists will present their start-ups and strategies for the development of marine and river industry to the jury members of the project. Experts will choose among the finalists 30 purposeful and talented students and in June they will visit the International Exhibition of Shipbuilding Industry and Marine Business Posidonia 2018 in Athens. At one of the most prestigious marine forums of the world, students from the universities of Ukraine will become acquainted with the trends and innovations of the global river and marine industry.
