Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), as well as the meeting of the European Council division of the above-mentioned Institute were held in London (UK) from 12th to 16th March, 2018. Discussions on the Institute’s Departments functioning as well as the involvement of young scientists into the ranks of this Institution were the main objectives of these meetings. S.A. Karianskyi, (Chairman of Odessa Branch, Dean of Automation Faculty of NU«OMA») and M.V. Chesnokova (Head of International Cooperation Department) represented Odessa Branch of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology and NU«OMA».

During Annual General Meeting IMarEST Strategic Plan 2018-2022 was presented. Also, Rob Dorey was elected as116th President of IMarEST for the 1 year period.

Moreover, the issues of further cooperation between Odessa Branch and IMarEST, United Kingdom (changes in the process of admission into the Institute’s membership, membership fees, use of electronic library, new opportunities for cooperation between NU«OMA» and IMarEST) were discussed during the meeting with the IMarEST representatives.

Great attention was paid to the matters dealing with the re-accreditation of the engineering specialties of NU«OMA» for the Chartered Engineer level. Also, questions regarding celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Odessa Branch of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology in Ukraine which was founded on the base of the NU«OMA».

IMarEST 115th Annual Dinner, which was attended by 487 guests from more than 19 countries, was held at London’s Guildhall on March 16th. Donation of more than £1,750 was collected for the Charity Guild to support people connected with the maritime community, members of their families, who need it.

During visit to UK representatives of NU«OMA» visited the International Maritime Employers’ Council (IMEC) and discussed further cooperation between NU«OMA» and IMEC.
