DOn November 8, 2018 Clarivate Analytics company (formerly IP and Science Thomson Reuters Department) held a scientific and methodological seminar due to the fact that National University «Odessa Maritime Academy» was given access to the Web of Science based on the results of the competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The workshop reviewed the following issues:

– Work with the Web of Science platform: search, analysis, storage of scientific information, assessment of topics of work and possible sources of funding.

– Analysis and selection of publications in Journal Citation Report (impact factor and other indicators of magazines). Given the requirements for publishing the results of dissertation papers and the appearance of a large amount of plagiarism, scholars must carefully consider the selection of publications for their own research publications.

– The Free EndNote Base Reference Manager, which allows to create a publication database on the subject of research and significantly simplifies the formatting of articles in the format of a particular edition, and the recently created EndNote Match function, which greatly reduces selection time of the publications.

– ResearcherID is an identifier of a scientist that allows the author to present his own achievements, compare them with world counterparts and present Ukrainian editions and scientific research institutions to the scientific community. H-index Orcid – an online CV of a scientist, and the like.
